Culture Transformation

Cultures are a complex, yet critical business consideration which must be fully understood to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of any organization. In order for an entity of any kind to achieve meaningful improvement regarding safety and prevention, they must understand what elements of their internal culture represent strengths and which elements are lacking or where gaps might exist.

Knowing these critical pieces of information, present many opportunities for improvement. When the perceptions of everyone in your organization are understood, this then translates into discernible actions which ultimately lead to a more predictable outcome of performance. This deeper understanding of cultural profiles then further highlights the importance for companies, not-for-profits, and governmental institutions alike, to continuously improve. Organizations are living, breathing, and ever changing and should be treated as such.

Most organizations focus on treatment and have created cultures based on what to do with an injured worker “After” they are hurt. This is an example of a default behavior. However, treatment does not lead to prevention. At Accurate Ergonomics we are “Laser” focused on prevention.

When a Culture of Prevention is developed, future positive outcomes and sustainable performance are aligned and achieved. A Culture of Prevention is a combination of many elements including: knowledge, skills, behaviors, values, beliefs, trust, perceptions, habits, commitments, actions, engagement, communications, customs, traditions, equitable treatment, and active caring.

The Accurate Ergonomics system, when applied as recommended and fully embraced by all, allows for a systematic, multi-faceted approach for enhancing cultural development. The most successful company cultures have engaged employees, who enjoy their co-workers and their time on the job, and who learn to become highly efficient at their job tasks.

The “Injury Free” goal is for the good of everyone and no one is left behind! In this fresh and healthy environment, everyone is accustomed to looking out for each other, whether it’s their first day on the job, or the last day prior to retirement. Team members encourage each other to stretch before starting the workday or prior to a challenging task, or better yet, give a co-worker a high-five for a job well done. At safety meetings pink boxes become a thing of the past.

Whatever the nature of your business or industry, cultivating a Culture of Prevention is beneficial to each and every employee, manager, safety stakeholder, shareholder, and even consumer. The results naturally progress to the improvement of bottom line profits. People in general want to work for a successful entity and are generally more confident, self assured, and feel greater job security, when they do!
