Eating For Success
70% of a person’s overall health is derived from what they eat. That’s a great reason for including nutrition (healthy eating) as a topic for discussion during safety standups.
Tips For Success:
-
Open your cabinets and your fridge and take a look at what on the shelves. That’s how you can tell how your doing with your diet.
- Read those labels. If you don’t like what you see, or you are trying to lose weight or improve your health, gather up everything that’s not healthy and donate it to a food bank or shelter.
- Now make a grocery list of what you can replace the not-so-healthy food with. Healthy alternatives.
- Never go grocery shopping without a list in hand, and don’t go shopping when you’re hungry! These two things will go a long way in helping you improve your eating habits and your overall health.
- Use your list and shop more on the outside aisles than on the inside lanes. The healthiest food is located on the edges.
- If you don’t already, read labels while you shop. Reading labels is the absolute best way to change your (or your family’s) diet. Compare labels and look for healthy, natural alternatives. Most items which are at eye level, really knee to eye level, are the least healthy choices.
- When you find a deal on healthy food, like fish or chicken, plan to make extra so you can take leftovers to work with you.
- If you want to easily be able to tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy food, it’s all about COLOR. The more color, the healthier the food. Just look at that happy face at the top of this page.
