Hotel Housekeeping Musculoskeletal
Injury Prevention Program (MIPP)
In July 2018, Cal/OSHA instituted a new regulation for all Hotels and Lodging Establishments (CCR, Title 8 §3345). This regulation requires every Hotel to “Control Risk and Prevent Housekeeper and Houseperson Musculockeletal Injuries.”
The MIPP regulation requires employers in the Hotel and Lodging Industry to implement and maintain an “Effective” Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Program, so that Housekeepers and Housepersons will not become injured from performing tasks such as: lifting mattresses, pulling linens, pushing heavy carts, cleaning bathtubs, showers, and slipping, tripping, or falling while cleaning bathrooms.
